Stealing |
Use the ASA rule for 10 & under stealing: only one base may be stolen per pitch. Home plate can never be stolen. Examples: 1) Runner on first attempts to steal second base. Throw from catcher sails over enter fielders head. Runner may not advance beyond second (because only one stolen base per pitch is allowed). 2) Runner on third takes a long lead toward home with the pitch. Catcher attempts to pick off the runner at third but the throw sails down the third base line. Runner on third may not advance and must return to third (because home can never be stolen). If runner instead gets in a run down, that runner may be tagged out, but if the runner makes if safely to home, umpire calls time out and runner is returned to third base (no run scores). |
