Interleague Information

What is Interleague?

Interleague is a branch of the “Rec” side of Livermore Girls Softball Association and is for girls
ages 11-14. Interleague can best be thought of as a bridge between recreation and travel ball.
The girls will develop the skills to face new challenges as the speed and expectations of the
game increase.

Interleague takes place in the spring. Girls must try out for the team. LGSA teams play against
Interleague teams from other cities around the Tri-Valley and Bay Area on a fixed schedule just
like teams do during the rec season. In general, there is a weekday game and a weekend game.
At the end of the season in May, all the Interleague teams compete with each other in a
weekend playoff tournament for the championship.

Additionally, there are typically one or two “no game” weekends built into the schedule that
allow for make-up games or teams to play in a spring tournament if they chose or just get in
some extra practice time.

Interleague includes players of many different skill levels. There are players in Interleague who
have played travel ball and want to continue to play at a more advanced level during the spring.
There also are players who want to begin their transition out of playing recreation ball into
travel ball.

LGSA’s Interleague coaches have years of travel ball experience and advanced knowledge and
skill level. They provide a fun and challenging atmosphere and have helped numerous girls
transform from good rec players to elite-level players.

If your daughter wants more out of softball but is unsure about travel ball, Interleague is a great
opportunity to get a taste of what travel ball will be like.  Please register your daughter in Middle School Rec and then attend an Interleague tryout if interested.
