What is Interleague?
Interleague is a competitive team formed from Livermore Girls Softball Association players for age groups 10U, 12U, and 14U.
Interleague includes players of many different skill levels. There are players in Interleague who have played travel ball and want to continue to play at a more advanced level during the spring. There also are players who want to begin their transition out of playing recreation ball into travel ball.
Who evaluates the players?
Interleague teams are drafted by the same process as our Smoke Summer teams: one league evaluator (independent from the league), one board member, and the team coach.
How are the players scored?
These players are evaluated on a point system. 0-5 based on their abilities in all areas of the game. Only experienced pitchers and catchers are scored on pitching and catching. All scores that are 3 and above are combined into an overall score for the player.
The top eight scoring players will automatically be placed on the team. The coach will then have discretion over the four remaining picks. Families of the 12 players selected for the team will be notified by email within 48 hours after the last tryout.
What other teams will the LGSA Interleague team play?
LGSA teams play against other competitive Interleague teams from other cities around the Tri-Valley and Bay Area on a fixed schedule. We will also have the opportunity to play local tournaments on the weekends with no league play.
How many games and practices will the Interleague team have during Spring?
In general, there is a weekday game and a weekend game. At the end of the season in May, all Interleague teams will compete in a weekend playoff tournament for the championship. Coaches will communicate with families on the practice, game and possible tournament schedules.
What are the options for players that do not make the team?
If a player does not make our interleague team we look forward to seeing them at the rec evaluations in January. All of our rec divisions from 8U and up are formed via draft to ensure the most competitive season out on the fields.
